Solid Hardwood vs. Engineered Hardwood
Learn About Hardwood Surface Finishes
Surface Finishes
Surface finishes have two significant functions for wood floors: to protect the wood floor underneath the coating, and to enhance the look of the wood flooring.
FERMA prefinished hardwood floors are finished by 8 coats of the urethane-based coating by the UV-cured process and embedded with Aluminum Oxide which provides extra durability. UV-cured is a process by which the finish is applied by ultraviolet lights that can quickly apply 6-10 layers of coating. Aluminum Oxide is chips added into the urethane finish for increased abrasion resistance of the wear layer and is often used on high-quality hardwood floors. Although the surface finish is very tough, hardwood floor should still be treated with care, however, the finish can protect the wood floor from a variety of defects like old wax marks. FERMA prefinished hardwood floor comes in semi-gloss finish and bamboo floor comes in matte finish.
